Ahead of our big launch tomorrow, here are five facts you may not have known about our new community creative space, Inspiration Works!

1. We’ve transformed the place!
The Inspiration Works building used to be an immersive gaming centre! Based on Pennywell Road in the Old Market area (just behind Cabot Circus), the venue used to host a submarine escape the room-style trial.
Now that’s pretty sweet, but we like to think what we’re doing with the pad now is even cooler and provides an enriching experience for young folk in Bristol whilst supporting their mental health needs at the same time.

2. There’s SO MUCH STUFF going on at the venue…
OTR will be holding a whole loads of groups, workshops and creative stuff at Inspiration Works – including our projects such as Mentality, Freedom, Zazi, Mind Aid and Harm/Less.
It will also be a drop-in venue for young people – and don’t forget our various group sessions too such as Sketchbook Club, self harm art therapy and bereavement support sessions [more coming soon…]

3. Stats stats stats
Although the idea was a twinkle in our eye a year ago (October 2015), implementing the project has taken around four months. That accounts for the building, decoration and all the lovely touches you’ll see at our launch party.
We’ve gone through 60 litres of white paint across nine rooms and we’ve enlisted the help of over 50 young people in the process. Phew!

4. There’s a Parisian scene in The Pod
A very talented young person called Mike has decorated our ‘pod’ room, painting an AMAZING Parisian scene (Canal Saint-Martin). You can take a look at it here, but it’s definitely worth checking out in person. Cheers Mike!
